Other countries

I've traveled to some other countries but some were about 10 years ago whereby I can't find trip reports I had written up. Others are recent.

I went back to the UK and France with my daughter in 2015, and took a bus to Amsterdam with her.

Australia -- Perth and Toodyay -- with my wife Na in 2009. We loved the people of Australia and the environment.

Hong Kong and Macau -- 2008 and 2009, traveled there with my wife Na and my daughter Angela

Cambodia - despite being a neighboring country, I never went to Cambodia for about 10 years, until I finally did a border visa run at Poipet (when my Thailand passport visa expired, I needed to go step over the border and back). Only once have I gone "into" Cambodia, when I went with my wife Na into Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, in April 2008. Never been to Phnom Penh, and no plans to, either.

Singapore - I had two good trip articles over ten years apart, but I can't find them! I went in 1995, again around 2006, and again in 2009 with my wife Na.

Laos - 1994, 1995, 2009, been there many times, love the people, set up the country's first internet connection in 1994, went back a few times, once at Lao government expense on Lao Aviation to teach some top people about internet ... but I can't find my notes on this. Most recently went with my wife Na and two of our staff.

Philippines, 1997, haven't found my notes. I wrote a good trip report on this ... I went to the Philippines once, taking my Thai wife Ying with me. I went to help set up the network of a branch of a multinational company, in Manila (Makati), for people I had worked for in Bangkok, and my wife knew their wives. We were there for a short time, only a week or so. The better English of the Philippines was appreciated, but we were very uncomfortable with the general aggressiveness on the street and the higher crime environment. We were in the city center of Manila, and I've heard it's much nicer in the countryside. Filipinos are hard working, but I would caution anyone about just going to Manila and walking around.

Malaysia, 1995, can't find my notes. Went back with my Thai wife Na in 2009, to Kuala Lumpur, on our way back from Australia.

There are so many nice places to go within Thailand that I don't have a lot of motivation to travel to many more places abroad. I'd rather we just pack up the car and drive. It's also so much more economical and convenient.
